Is it cold or just me?

Theres past few days have been really damn cold. Up to -5 degrees is no joke. Its like you constantly have to have a heater by your side. Your toes freeze up all day. Only good thing – no need to keep ice water in the fridge.

My finders are too cold to continue typing – sorry

BOYCOTT the Mail & Guardian newspaper

BOYCOTT the Mail & Guardian newspaper

Wow, just a few hours after I posted an article on Apple pulling an app because of it being “anti-Islam”. I never thought that it would hit our shores so fast. Have we not learnt about RESPECT yet? Have we not learnt from the uproar the Danes caused? the Mail & Guardian has “bravely” gone and published a competition to draw The Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). Islam fobids the drawing of not only Muhammed (PHUH) but of any other Prophet (PBUT).

Why is it that the Mail & Guardian will tempt such a thing? i can only think of one answer – MORE EXPOSURE. We all know that it will create a huge uproar in South Africa therefore everyone will want to buy the paper just to see whats the big deal. Shame on you M&G.

I just feel that we have lost respect for our parents, friends, colleagues, bosses, people and OURSELVES. We hide behind “freedom of speech” and “right of expression” .

Anyway, a newspaper is there to report news – not to disrespect religions. It was NOT necessary to do such a thing. Whats your view point? Once agin be civil.

Apple pulls iSlam Muhammed (PBUH) app

An iPhone app made by Emery Emery was pulled from the Apple iTunes store after just one day of being approved. The app showed pictures of The Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and outlined some passages from the Quraan. This guy knew exactly what he was doing when he wrote the app and knew that it would raise a hype – easy way of getting recognition on the expense of Islam.

However, there has been concerns raised due to the fact that Apple has not pulled a similar app (BibleThumper) that bashes Christianity, from the app store. What ever the reasons, I don’t think that any app disrespecting any religion should be approved in the first place. Give us your thoughts. Be civil.

My new internet cafe - coming soon

Hi guys. I’ve FINALLY taken the plunge and rented a shop. A friend of mine was kind enough to give me the front section which is quite big, so i’ve decided to open an Apple based Internet Cafe. I’ll obviously have Apple computers available to surf the net in addition to iPods, iPhones and Apple hardware sales. I will do all my graphic design from the shop as well. For those of you in Newcastle, its at the Fruit and Veg building. I’ll definitely update you guys as things progress.

I havent thought of an official name just yet but i’m leaning towards iCafe. What do you think? More

Apple i5 and i7 Macbook Pro's

Apple has finally released the new line of macBook Pro’s, 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch which includes i5 and i7 CPU’s. This upgrade really is what everyone has been waiting for – including me. The new specs below:

13-inch MacBoo Pro
This machine comes with either a 2.4GHz or 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. As with the other models, the 13″ starts off with 4GB of RAM (upgradable to 8GB). The factory hard drive in this machine is smaller than in its siblings at either 250GB (2.4GHz) or 320GB (2.66GHz). Both are serial ATA drives at 5400 rpm (there’s no 7200 rpm option for the 13″ model) with the following upgrade path:
500GB Serial ATA Drive
128GB solid-state drive
256GB solid-state drive
512GB solid-state drive

15-inch MacBook Pro
This model comes in two main configurations, distinguished by either an Intel Core i5 (2.4GHz or 2.53GHz) or Core i7 (2.66GHz) processor. Apple claims that they boost performance by 50% over the previous generation MacBook Pros (I can only imagine what my experience would be switching from a 2GHz Intel Core Duo).

All configurations start off with 4GB of RAM (upgradable to 8GB). As for the hard drive, the base 2.53GHz i5 and 2.66GHz i7 feature a 500GB Serial ATA Drive (5400 rpm) with several upgrade options, including:
500GB Serial ATA Drive (7200 rpm)
128GB Solid State Drive
256GB Solid State Drive
512GB Solid State Drive

17-inch MacBook Pro
There is one main configuration, featuring the 2.53GHz Intel Core i5; the 2.66GHz Intel Core i7 CPU is a build-to-order option. As with the other models, the 17″ starts off with 4GB of RAM (upgradable to 8GB), and comes standard with a 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive, with the following upgrade options:
500GB Serial ATA Drive (7200 rpm)
128GB Solid State Drive
256GB Solid State Drive
512GB Solid State Drive
That huge, high-resolution display is available with either a glossy or anti-glare finish (for an additional US$50). But this machine’s real appeal is in its performance.

Now this is what I call an upgrade. Will you be getting one?

Apple iPad - I Want One

Wow its been 9 days since my last post. Abit too long for my liking but anyway lots of things have happened in the past few days. First and best of all Faatimah (my eldest daughter) spent the week with us – it was brilliant. Next best thing was the updates from Apple. As many of you know that I am a huge Apple fan(actic) and I just love it when they release some good toys.

By now you all probably know that Apple has released the iPad. I WANT ONE. At first I thought that it was just a huge iPod touch but as time grew I soon realised the potential in this unit and the way the world is turning to more and more digital media. I JUST WANT ONE. So, eventually we probably will all be sporting an iPad. Did I say I WANT ONE?

Next is the demo release of the iPhone OS 4. If there is one thing i regret in my life is selling my iPhone. What a fool. Now I use a Sony Ericsson C903 but dont get me wrong – SE makes great phones – but just not the iPhone. After watching the latest OS 4 demo, I just feel 100 years behind time. The new iPhone hasn’t been released yet but i am sure Apple will not disappoint us. I will keep you posted of any news I hear.

Today I’m off to Jo’burg (Johannesburg) – the rat race – but will be back soon.
