A fire broke out today from the top floor of one of the Darul Ulooms buildings, better know as “CookSubs Room” by the students. The whole building was completely engulfed in flames leaving nothing but burnt walls. Alhamdulillah no-one was injured. Reports say that the fire started at 17:30 and continued until 18:30. There are no reports as yet as to how the fire actually started. One thing for sure is all that is left are the memories that students have of buying food from Cook Saheb “Cooksub” and “chilling” in the eating room.
There were many students and local residents who came to the firefighters aid and great admiration has to be given to all of them for their bravery in trying to save the building and its contents.
We will post updates and more photos as they become available.

A “Thank You Steve” song was created by an audio engineer using only Mac sounds and Steve Job’s voice. Steve Jobs has been one of the most inspirational people of our time when it comes to technology and creativity.
Enjoy.

Apple released the iPhone 4S today. Although identical to the iPhone 4, the iPhone4S has a major upgrade on the inside. The upgrade includes a A5 dual core processor, 8 megapixel camera with stabilizer, 1080p HD video recording up to 30 frames per second and a beta version of SIRI. Siri is the intelligent assistant that does everything – all you have to do is ask. “Make me coffee?”, “Finish my brochure design?” “Take the dirt out?” mmmmmm not quite everything. It’s more like a Yellow Pages, TO DO list, kind of app with a voice. To be honest I really don’t think I could get used to it. Anyway, with the faster CPU and better graphics, I’m sure the iPhone 4S will be worth the upgrade… when it eventually makes its way to our shores.
Another announcement was that iCloud and iOS5 will be available on October 14 October 12. Now this is an upgrade I can’t wait for. I don’t think I will be rushing out and laying down the extra cash for an already perfect iPhone but iCloud and iOS5 will be worth it.
Update 1:
Apple has released the keynote of this event “Lets Talk iPhone“. To watch the video, you’ll need to use a Mac with Safari 4 or 5 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Lion, an iOS 3 or later device with Safari, or a PC QuickTime 7 on Windows. Enjoy!

Its been a hell of a cold winter in Newcastle this year but when the snow falls it’s all forgotten. I have never been in snow so for me the winter has become a special one. The last time it snowed in Newcastle, I was in Jo’burg – I missed it. Today we woke up to white grass. Yesterday the parts of the N3 from Gauteng to KZN was closed due to the icy weather.
Well as for the day ahead, I dont know. To work or not to work – thats the question, hehe. All I can say is that I hope the snow doesnt stop falling. Its absolutely beautiful.

South Africans witnessed a spectacular total eclipse of the moon yesterday. The white full moon turned blood red as the longest lunar eclipse in a decade unfolded on Wednesday night, 15 June 2011. According to astronomers, the June 15 eclipse was among the best three in terms of length and totality that took place in the last 100 years in history. The last lunar eclipse closer to the center of Earth’s shadow was on July 16, 2000, when it lasted 107 minutes. This eclipse was a central eclipse, visible over Europe and south America after sunset, over Africa and most of Asia, and Australia before sunrise.
Below is a time lapsed video of the eclipse.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes behind Earth so that the earth blocks the sun’s rays from striking the moon. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with Earth in the middle. Is not Allah great?!

theimagehouse has been running from 1998 and you know what they say “a carpenter never has cupboards, a mechanic never has a car”, well I have been terribly guilty of the same. theimagehouse has never had a logo – well at least one that has stuck. The most difficult thing for a designer is to design his own corporate identity. Never happy with what he comes up with and constantly believing that he can do a better design. Unfortunately this belief can lead to bad design as well because when something IS good and you still push for perfection, you tend to push it over the edge and it falls – into bad design. I think this is what my problem has been for a long time.
I like the new design. I wanted it plain and simple yet elegant. I think I have achieved that. The word IMAGE will always be in a different colour to make it more legible because there are no spaces.
Well as for changing it – nope, I’m sticking with this one. I have that gut feeling.
What do you think?

What would happen if all the instruments in the world were destroyed? This guy is really talented the way he controls the sounds, air and of course does his thing. Enjoy.
